Overview

Introduction

We’re glad you’ve chosen to play GOcabulary® Plus. The legacy GOcabulary® game was first released for PCs in the early 2000s, and now we have updated it for a new era. The game will be available for selected phones and tablets, and the PC version has been discontinued.

To play GOcabulary® Plus, you must decide whether you want to play by yourself or against 1, 2, 3 or more offline opponents. Even if you play alone, you’ll be playing against the clock to keep things challenging. The faster you are, the more points you’ll win.

Who Can Play GOcabulary® Plus

Overall, GOcabulary® Plus is suitable for children in Grades 1-12. (Our 1.0 version contains only Grades 1-4). There are 9 modules in each grade level and 3 lessons in each module that will teach and test vocabulary knowledge and English. Adults or older children should guide younger players until the novices understand the rules of the game.

Earning Regular Points

After you begin playing GOcabulary® Plus, 3 words (a triplet) will appear on your screen, with audio confirming how each word is pronounced.

To earn points, look at each triplet, and tap one of the following 4 selections that will be visible on the game screen:

1. All Alike: The words in the triplet mean the same thing or are very closely related in some way.

Defining word associations can be tricky, and there may be room for debate.

2. Generally Alike: The words in the triplet are part of a general grouping. This can be tricky too

and often subject to debate.

3. Two Alike: Only 2 words mean the same thing or have something in common.

4. Not Alike: The triplet’s words have nothing in common.

Tap the “Hint” button for your 1st clue.

Tap each word clue to see a complete sentence using each word in the triplet.

Earning Bonus Points

At every grade level, you may earn bonus points if you define, correctly, the meaning of one of the words that appeared earlier in a triplet. There may be differences of opinion, so expect a lively time debating pros and cons.

Solving Word Puzzles

Unscramble words, sentences and paragraphs to earn additional points.

Round 1: Tap on each letter to spell a word correctly.

Round 2: Tap on each sentence to put things in the right order.

Round 3: Tap on each sentence in the correct order to create a sensible paragraph.

Retry & Repeat

You may repeat lessons until you’re ready to buy the next level of the game to keep improving your GOcabulary® Plus skills.
